Outdoor signs like campaign signs for candidates and open house signs are typically printed on Corrugated plastic yard signs. These cheap signs last for about a season. A-Frame signs need to have enough weight in the base of the unit in order to withstand wind. A sign that blows over in the wind and into the road can in fact cause more of a problem than not having a sign up at all.

For indoor signage issues of repositioning and of residue need to be solved. For window clings made of static instead of adhesive it is possible to move them without any mark left by them. Therefore they are very suitable for promotions which are changed very frequently.

Retractable banner stands are a common feature of trade show booths and should be specified based on the weight of the base and the mechanism (retractor) rather than the print. Often the retractor jams or fails to hold the banner upright for long periods of time. This is the part that gets used the most over the show season.

One design note here: Since most signage is read from a distance and often in motion, keeping the signage simple and using very large copy is much better than creating a sign with a lot of copy that no one will read.
