I would say that the surface items are safer to buy and generally better than other types of products. A laptop skin travels with a person to all of their meetings and travels with them to coffee shops, etc. Neither of these products has a battery that will degrade or a port that will wear out.
Privacy filters (e.g. screen protectors with built in filter) are a great option for finance, legal, and healthcare companies, as they solve a compliance problem as opposed to being mere swag.
