Read that certification carefully, because the letters carry the actual meaning. Type I means the shell is rated for impact to the top of the head, which is the standard requirement on almost every construction site in the country. Class E means electrical, rated to 20,000 volts, which is what utility, electrical, and anything near live lines requires. A hat that says only Class C is conductive and is not rated for electrical work at all.

The six-point suspension spreads the load across six contact points on the head rather than four. On a crew wearing hats for nine hours in July, that is the difference between a hat that gets worn and a hat that ends up on the truck seat. The ratchet dial adjusts one-handed with gloves on, which is a small thing that decides whether people actually fit it properly or leave it loose.

Branding is screen printed or pad printed directly onto the shell, and it can go on the front, both sides, and the back. Printing on the shell is meaningfully better than stickers, and the reason is UV. A vinyl sticker on a hat that lives outdoors will curl at the edges and peel within a season, and then the crew is walking around with half a logo. Printed ink cures into the surface and stays through sun, rain, and repeated cleaning.

Color coding is worth planning before you order. Most sites run a color system: white for supervisors and engineers, yellow for general laborers, orange for road and traffic crews, blue for technical and electrical, green for safety officers and new hires. Stock colors are white, yellow, orange, blue, and green, so the system is available if you want it. Getting this right at order time means a foreman can identify a role across a site at a glance.

General contractors and construction firms are the main buyers. Utility and line contractors order Class E specifically. Industrial plants and refineries buy for site-wide programs. Safety training organizations order them for certification courses, and companies running site tours keep a stock of branded visitor hats.

Sort the color system out before you order rather than after, because splitting a run across colors costs nothing at order time and is expensive to fix once the hats are printed. Crew kits usually add high-visibility safety tees. Custom stickers still earn their place on top of a printed hat for name and role labels, since those change and printing does not.
