Etching cuts a frosted mark into the glass surface, so it cannot peel, fade, or wash off, and it will still be there after four hundred trips through a commercial dishwasher. Screen printed ink on a wine glass is the wrong finish for the category anyway. A shiny plastic-looking logo on a tasting glass reads cheap next to the wine, and etching does not have that problem.

The bowl is a universal shape, which is the practical choice for anyone buying glassware in quantity. Bordeaux bowls, Burgundy bowls, and white wine bowls all have arguments behind them, but stocking three shapes means three inventories, three breakage rates, and three racks behind the bar. A universal 12oz bowl pours a proper five to six ounce serving with enough headspace to swirl and enough taper to concentrate the aroma, and it handles reds and whites without anyone at the table noticing a compromise.

The stem is there for a reason people often forget. Holding the bowl warms the wine through your palm within a few minutes, and a stem keeps your hand off it. For a tasting room pouring flights, that is the difference between the fourth pour showing what it should and showing warm.

Common questions

Will the etching wash off? No. Etching cuts into the glass rather than sitting on top of it, so it survives commercial dishwashers indefinitely.

Can I get separate red and white glasses? The 12oz bowl is a universal shape that handles both. Dedicated Bordeaux and Burgundy bowls can be quoted separately if you need them.

Can you etch names and dates for a wedding? Yes. Individual names are a per-glass variable etch, which we quote on top of the base price.
